The child reads action words and performs them, learning that verbs name actions.

- 1
Write "clap" on a slip. Ask the child to read it and do it.

Write "hop." The child reads it and hops.

Say, "These words tell us what to do. A word that tells an action is called a verb."

Write several verb slips for the child to read and act out.

Invite the child to write a verb for you to act out.
