The child pairs swatches of different fabrics by touch and learns the names of fabrics.

Presentation

Take out the swatches and place them at random.

Feel one swatch between your thumb and fingertips, then feel others until you find its match.

Place the pair side by side.

Continue until all are paired.
- 5
Put on the blindfold and pair two or three swatches to show the child.

Give three-period lessons for the fabric names.
Extensions, easiest to hardest
- Pair all swatches blindfolded.
- Grade fabrics from roughest to softest.
- Find clothing and objects made of the same fabrics.
- Match swatches to a second box across the room.
Control of error
The pairs look the same; the child takes off the blindfold and checks by sight.
