PL 5.06Table Scrubbing

Invite the child. Put on an apron. Lay the plastic mat under the table.

Set out the materials in order from left to right on the mat or a side table: basin, soap, brush, sponge, drying cloth.

Fill the pitcher at the sink, carry it, and pour water into the basin.

Wet the table with the sponge. Rub the brush on the soap.

Scrub in small circles from the top left corner across and down, row by row. Watching the suds form is the point of interest.

Rinse the sponge in the basin, squeeze it, and wipe away all soap in the same order. Rinse and squeeze again as needed.

Dry the table with the cloth in the same order.

Empty the basin into the bucket and the bucket into the sink. Hang wet cloths to dry, put the dry materials back, and invite the child to scrub another day.
