Sound Cylinders: Pairing

Take out the cylinders from the red box and place them in a column on the left; take out the blue box cylinders and place them in a column on the right.

Pick up the first red cylinder, hold it near your ear, and shake it gently up and down.

Put it down and shake each blue cylinder one at a time until you find the one that sounds the same, shaking the red one again between tries.

Place the pair together in the center.

Continue until all six pairs are made.

Return each set to its own box by color.

Begin with three pairs (loudest, middle, softest), then all six.
Pair the cylinders with eyes closed.
Place the blue box across the room and bring the matching cylinder by memory of sound.

Many sets have a matching dot or mark on the base of each pair; otherwise the child shakes both cylinders again and the guide checks.
