PL 1.11Tweezing
The child uses tweezers to pick up and move small objects one at a time.
Presentation

Invite the child and carry the tray to the table.

Hold the tweezers the way you hold a pencil: thumb on one side, index and middle fingers on the other. Show the grip slowly; this is the difficulty isolated in this work.

Squeeze gently to close the tips and release to open them.

Pick up one object from the bowl.

Place it in the first section of the tray, starting top left.

Continue left to right, top to bottom, one object in each section.

Return the objects to the bowl with the tweezers and invite the child to try.

Return the tray to the shelf.
Extensions, easiest to hardest
- Use smaller objects (seeds, beads)
- Sort objects by color into sections
- Move objects from water (small floating items) with tweezers
Control of error
The object slips out if the grip is too loose or too tight; empty sections show missed places.

- Places one small object in each section without dropping it
- Works through a full tray with sustained attention
Guide note
Small objects are a choking risk; keep this work on a shelf for older children and supervise with younger ones.
