The child learns to take a tissue, blow the nose, throw the tissue away, and wash hands.

Invite the child to the tissue station.

Take one tissue. Open it and hold it with both hands.

Put the tissue over your nose. Close one side of your nose with a finger through the tissue and blow gently out of the other side.

Repeat on the other side.

Fold the tissue in half and wipe the nose from top to bottom.

Look in the mirror to check your face is clean.

Put the tissue in the trash can and close the lid.
- 8
Wash your hands. Invite the child to try with a new tissue.
Extensions, easiest to hardest
- Cover a cough or sneeze with the elbow
- Offer a tissue to a friend who needs one
- Refill the tissue box when it is empty
Control of error
The mirror shows whether the face is clean.

- Gets a tissue without being told when the nose runs
- Throws the tissue away and washes hands afterward
- Covers coughs and sneezes
