The child learns to introduce themself to a new person, and then to introduce two people to each other.

Presentation

Gather a small group. Ask two adults or older children to be partners.

Show introducing yourself: walk to partner A, look at them, and say: 'Hello, my name is Ms. Lee. What is your name?'

Partner A answers: 'My name is Sam.' Say: 'Nice to meet you, Sam.'

Show introducing others: stand between partner A and partner B. Turn to B: 'Jo, this is Sam.' Turn to A: 'Sam, this is Jo.'

The partners greet each other by name.

Invite a child to introduce themself to a partner.

Invite an older child to introduce two classmates to each other.
Extensions, easiest to hardest
- Introduce a new child to the class on their first day
- Introduce a parent or visitor to a friend
- Show a visitor around the classroom and introduce them to the guide
Control of error
The people being introduced use each other's names; if a name is missed, they cannot.
