PL 4.08Dressing Frames: Zipper and Buckle
The child opens and closes the zipper frame, then the buckle frame.
Presentation

Invite the child and carry the zipper frame to a table.

Hold the bottom of the zipper with one hand. Pull the zipper tab down with the other hand to the bottom.

Pull the pin out of the box at the bottom to separate the two sides. Open the flaps.

Close the flaps. Insert the pin into the box slowly; this step is the difficulty isolated in this work.

Hold the bottom firmly and pull the tab up to the top.

Invite the child to try.

On another day, present the buckle frame: pull the strap back to free the prong, slide the strap out, then thread it back, push the prong through the hole, and tuck the end into the keeper.
Extensions, easiest to hardest
- Zip a coat laid on the table
- Zip their own coat while wearing it
- Buckle a belt or sandal strap
Control of error
If the pin is not fully in the box, the zipper does not close and the sides pull apart. An unthreaded buckle strap hangs loose.
