The child learns the parts of a clock and reads and sets times to the hour on an analog clock.

Build the clock face puzzle: numerals 1–12 in order around the circle.

Show the hands: 'The short hand is the hour hand. The long hand is the minute hand.'

Put the minute hand on 12 and the hour hand on 3: 'When the long hand points to 12, we say o'clock. This is three o'clock.'

Three-period lesson with 3 o'clock, 6 o'clock, and 9 o'clock.

The child sets the clock to times the guide names.

Match the clock face cards to the written time cards; check with the control card.

Connect to the day: 'Lunch is at 12 o'clock.'
Extensions, easiest to hardest
- Draw hands on blank clock faces for given hours.
- Record the time of daily events (lunch, outdoor time).
- Half past the hour, for children who read the hour easily.
