Show the globe and ask: 'What do you think is inside the earth?'

Cut the hard-boiled egg in half. Show the shell, white, and yolk: 'The earth has layers too.'

Show the model or puzzle. Point to the thin outer layer: 'This is the crust. We live on the crust. Rocks and soil are part of it.'

Name the mantle, then the outer core and the inner core, moving inward.

Give a three-period lesson on the four layers.

Show the picture cards and match the label cards.

Invite the child to work the puzzle or match the cards.

Build a layered earth ball from play dough in four colors and cut it in half
Match the three-part cards independently
Draw and label the layers of the earth
Look at a picture of a volcano and talk about hot melted rock coming up through the crust
