SE 3.06Constructive Triangles: Triangular, Hexagonal, and Rectangular Box 2
The child builds larger and more complex shapes, including hexagons, from the remaining boxes of Constructive Triangles.
Presentation

Present the Triangular Box first: build the large equilateral triangle from smaller triangles using the black lines.

Show that the same large triangle can be made from two, three, or four smaller triangles.

On another day present the Small Hexagonal Box: build a hexagon, then show the same hexagon made in a different way.

Present the Large Hexagonal Box: build a hexagon and a six-pointed star, and compare them.

Present Rectangular Box 2 last, since it has no black lines and the child must match by edge length.

Invite the child to lay two constructions side by side and compare them.
Extensions, easiest to hardest
- Place one construction on top of another to show they are the same size.
- Build designs using several boxes.
- Use the blue scalene triangles to build as many shapes as possible.
- Draw and color the constructions.
Control of error
In the boxes with guide lines, the black lines meet exactly when the pieces are placed correctly. In Rectangular Box 2, the edges must be the same length to join without a gap.
